Held in January of each year, the Junior High Workshop gives school groups exposure to professional choreographers and vocal coaches during a two-day intensive workshop experience. While at Macomb, they learn from award-winning national and international choreographer, Andy Haines. Vocal Clinicians Anita Coppol and Todd Moses enhance the experience by coaching the mass choir made up of top students from Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne counties.
The teachers have the opportunity to network with colleagues while they attend the workshop with their students. After, the students and teachers return to their schools invigorated and ready to pass on to others this exciting music and dance experience. These students also benefit from the additional enhancement to skills learned in the classroom, by providing specialized training that will help them throughout the remainder of their school years and beyond.
At the end of the workshop, the students showcase what they have learned to family and friends in a performance on the Macomb Center's main stage where they are joined by the high school show choir, Magic Company.
