The schedule for the week is as follows:
Monday-Friday: 9am - 12noon
Auditions for the Macomb Children's Chorus year long program will be held during the week of the Workshop.
Through music, singers in grades 2-9 are challenged and encouraged to reach a level of excellence while developing music skills, building confidence, discipline, self-esteem and an understanding and love of the art of music. individual attention in music theory, technique and sight-seeing exercises help young singers develop their musical potential. Children need not be a member of the Macomb Children's Chorus to participate in the workshop.

About the Director, Ronald R. Weiler II
Ronald R. Weiler II (Ron) has been the Director of Middle and Upper School Choirs at Detroit Country Day School since 1998. During that time, his choirs have received numerous First Division, Excellent and Superior Ratings at MSVMA District and State Choral Festivals. The Concert Choir has performed twice as a featured choir for the MSVMA Choral Hour at the Michigan Music Conference in Ann Arbor in 2004 and Grand Rapids in 2017. Bella Voce, the advanced ensemble auditioned from the Concert Choir, was a finalist ensemble for the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in 2016. The Upper School Choirs have travelled internationally twice during Mr. Weiler’s tenure (2001 & 2006) and Bella Voce performed on the stage at Carnegie Hall in 2008. The DCDS Choirs have collaborated with many professional musical organizations, such as the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Sounding Light, and Madrigal Chorale of Southfield.
Mr. Weiler served as PK3-12 Music Department Chair at Detroit Country Day School from 2005-2013. He also served as MSVMA District IV Manager for nearly 10 years, hosting countless Choral and Solo & Ensemble Festivals.
A Traverse City native, Ron was mentored by both Russell and Melvin Larimer from 1988 - 1996. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Keyboard Performance with Honors from Albion College in 1995. He student taught with Russ Larimer and Wendee Wolf-Schlarf in 1995 & 1996 at Traverse City Senior High & East Junior High. Before coming to DCDS he taught at Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, VA where he was the Assistant Choral Director. During his career as a vocal coach and choral director, Mr. Weiler has also been the accompanist for several professional choirs, including “Vox Humana” with Lyle Brown, and “Madrigal Chorale of Southfield” with Dr. Robert Martin. Additionally, he is also an active church musician, currently the Director of Music & organist at Mother of Divine Mercy Parish (consisting of Sweetest Heart of Mary & St. Josaphat churches) in Detroit.
Mr. Weiler currently resides in Farmington Hills, MI. His wife of 15 years, Theresa, is a professional soprano and also an educator at Detroit Country Day School, where she teaches Speech and Drama to students grades 6 through 8. Together they have 4 children, ages 10, 9, 3 and 9 months. Ron is extremely excited to accept the position of Director of Music for the Macomb Children’s Choir!
