The Macombers

Established in 1970...

A group of Macomb Community College scholarship students, currently under the direction of Harvey Kahl, performs dozens of shows a year throughout the Detroit area and beyond. Although constantly changing its musical selections and members, The Macombers continue to receive rave reviews.

They have appeared on stage at the Macomb Center with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Neil Sedaka, Judy Collins, Marvin Hamlisch and Tom Jones. They have performed for local school children and U.S. presidents alike. Each year, they take center stage at the Macomb Center in two “extravaganzas” to help benefit the fund which provides for their scholarships. They have been booked by such clients as Chrysler Corporation, Henry Ford Hospital, Beaumont Hospital and Sterling Heights Library. They can perform at your organization’s next event for a fraction of the cost of other performers.

The Macombers use their first two years of college with a commitment to singing and dancing. Some hope to make it a career and, indeed, among The Macombers alumni are professional entertainers who have taken their talent aboard cruise ships, on stages and inside television sound studios. Even more use their Macombers experience to become teachers and leaders in business and the community. But, whether or not they remain in the performing arts, most former Macombers say that the experience of being on stage was one of the most memorable and transforming of their lives.
