Performed by Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings with the Western Michigan University ChoraleKing David (Le Roi David) is a 70 minute masterpiece written in 1921 by the French composer, Arthur Honegger. Comprised of 27 short vignettes, the music tells the story of David and his relationship with Saul. The work features seventeen instrumentalists, vocal soloists, narrators, and a chorus. It utilizes elements ranging from Gregorian Chant to jazz. The Macomb Center performance will feature the 160 voice Western Michigan University Grand Chorus. They will be joined by Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, which has made numerous Macomb Center appearances over the years. The ensemble is primarily composed of members from The Detroit Symphony and Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestras. The production will be led by Kimberly Dunn Adams.
